CDBS: Child Benefit Dental Scheme
The Child Benefit Dental Scheme (CDBS) provides eligible children with access to essential oral care services, ensuring they maintain healthy teeth without unnecessary restrictions.
Understanding CDBS
This program offers financial support for routine dental care, helping parents cover the cost of necessary treatments. Introduced by the Australian Government, CDBS replaced the Medicare Teen Dental Plan, which ended on 31st December 2013.
Under this initiative, children between the ages of 2 and 18 receive a capped benefit to assist with the cost of essential oral health services.
To qualify, families must meet a means test, which includes receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A or other eligible Australian Government payments.
Who Can Access This Program?
Children between 2 and 18 years old may be eligible for CDBS if they meet the program’s requirements.
What Services Are Covered?
The scheme includes a range of essential oral care services, such as:
- Check-ups and assessments
- Teeth cleaning
- X-rays
- Fillings
- Root canal treatments
- Fissure sealants
- Tooth extractions
However, the program does not cover cosmetic procedures or alignment treatments. If you are unsure about what treatments your child is eligible for, we are happy to assist.
